Old vs. Rebranded
The original World Book identity, while iconic, leaned heavily on traditional academic cues, often associated with its print encyclopedia roots. The rebranding introduces a refreshed visual language that bridges the brand’s rich history with a forward-thinking identity.
Inspired by the visual rhythm of a bookshelf, the new logo system incorporates two stacked vertical forms and two horizontal lines, subtly referencing books both standing and lying down. This modular structure informs both the vertical and horizontal logo treatments, creating flexibility while reinforcing the brand's foundational elements. The custom letterform ‘WB’ acts as a modern monogram, clean, structured, and instantly recognizable.
Together, these elements establish a timeless yet contemporary presence, repositioning World Book as a leader in accessible, engaging, and visually intelligent learning.
